Think of counseling with me as a conversation of how you can have a better life. We will discuss fully the reason(s) that brings you to therapy and explore your history and background to understand where problems may have come from and what might be keeping them going. We will explore all areas of your life, especially where you have problems and discuss anything else that is important so that I can fully understand your situation and partner in obtaining your goals.
What do you expect from me as your counseling client?
Your active participation and dedication are imperative to your success, growth, and development. I expect you to be open and honest about your thoughts and feelings and counseling experience. I expect you to help design homework activities and practice to change the things you have identified. I will also expect you to complete any home practice assignments to the best of your ability and to try out new ways of dealing with your feelings, thoughts and other people.
Traditionally, therapy is offered once a week for 50 minutes. However, that does not work for everyone.. Together, we will tailor your counseling plan to fit your needs and goals. Most often, clients meet weekly or biweekly until they begin to notice the improvements they want to achieve. Your initial session will be approximately 90 minutes.
You should feel a sense of increased optimism in a few session. In a few more, you should experience increased self-confidence, energy and courage, as well as consistently lest anxiety or depression. Other may notice changes before you do. Symptoms may change in frequency, duration and/or intensity, but that which aspect will change first cannot be predicted. It is not uncommon for those new to therapy to fell a bit exposed and vulnerable after sharing so much information with their counselor. Why shouldn’t I just take medication? Do you prescribe them? Do you work with others that do?
Medication alone cannot solve all issues and is targeted at treating the symptoms, not irradiating the problem. Our work together is designed to dig deep, explore the root of the issue and learn new strategies to help accomplish your goals. With that being said, I do not prescribe medications and it is outside of my scope of practice to provide medical advice. I will always encourage you to openly communicate and consult with your doctor and/or prescribing provider about any medication that you may be taken. How do appointments work? What is your cancellation policy?
My office operates by appointment only. Appointments are typically scheduled between 12:00pm and 6:30pm Monday through Friday. Weekend appointments are available on occasion. Appointments do not require a deposit however, please keep in mind that your appointment time is scheduled and held specifically for you. Appointments missed or not canceled/rescheduled with a minimum of 24hrs notice will incur a no show/late cancelation fee of $50. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid prior to obtaining a new appointment.

As a coach, I assist you in conquering any fears, uncertainty and obstacles that are keeping you from overcoming and achieving. As your life coach, my purpose is to serve professionally as your motivator, educator and accountability partner.
